Marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the House of Dior, Maison Assouline has launched a series of seven exquisite books – each devoted to a different designer that has worked for the world-famous couture house – from Yves Saint Laurent and Marc Bohan through to current head of design Maria Grazia Chiuri. The first edition – 'Dior by Christian Dior' – available from today, features a wealth of stunning photography by Laziz Hamani, who has previously collaborated with Assouline on more than 20 titles. Together with author Olivier Saillard, the pair have delved into the archives of Dior's illustrious history to unearth some of the brand's most groundbreaking garments, ranging from the seminal premiere spring/summer 1947 collection famously dubbed the 'New Look' through to the final Fuseau line presented for fall/winter 1957. Conserved in some of the world's most iconic museums and cultural institutions, each piece has been photographed exclusively for the new publication, providing unprecedented insight into the development of one of the world's most revered fashion brands.
