Chanel has unveiled a new show-stopping 48 piece high jewellery collection, inspired by the matelassé quilting stitch technique found on the brand's iconic 2.55 handbag. Adopted from the equestrian world, where the quilted pattern made saddles more comfortable for horse-riding, the quilting went on to become a signature of Chanel fashion, now extending into the brand's jewellery offering.

Due to land in the UK in July, the new line features white gold, diamonds, sapphires and pearls, exploring the perfection of simplicity. Running as a theme throughout the pieces are clean lines paired with timeless design and sophistication. The 'De Nacre' collection features Tahitian black Mother-of-pearl, enriched with dazzling natural colour, while 'Surpiquee' references the delicate lacework used throughout Chanel fashion and 'Duo' flows around the body in harmony with its movements. Combining functionality with glamour, the collection is set to prove extremely popular, having already attracted praise at the launch in Paris earlier this year.
