Following the success of Mr Fogg's Residence in Mayfair, a cocktail bar themed on the adventures of Jules Verne's fictional explorer Phileas Fogg,  the Inception Group are launching a new sister drinking haunt of the same theme – Mr Fogg's Tavern. Opening on the 19th of October, the new venue offers a traditional tavern on the ground floor and a refined gin parlour and salon upstairs. Much like the existing Mayfair Residence, the decor is expected to be as much of an appeal as the drinks themselves, packed full of curious Victoriana inspired by Fogg's adventures across the globe. The downstairs tavern will feature a wooden interior heavily laden with nineteenth century artefacts and curiosities such as a large aviary filled with plants, stuffed birds and other oddities. Here, visitors will be able to slake their thirst with a wide range of traditional drinks including real ales, batch brews, gin cocktails and grog served in tankards and pewter cups. Plenty of delicious home comforts will also be on offer in the form of pie with liquor, roast game and freshly caught sea dishes served with vegetables sourced daily from the market. Upstairs the gin parlour and salon will offer a more refined experience, beginning with a separate entrance for ladies and gentlemen to enter discreetly. By the light of glass chandeliers, guests will be able to enjoy a selection of gins, or move into the salon for a traditional Victorian punch served in authentic silver punch bowls. 'Tipsy Tea' will also be on offer at the weekend, serving up an array of dainty sandwiches, cakes and petits-fours with a side order of cocktails poured from teapots.
