Alongside the switching on of the Regent Street Christmas lights and Liberty's Christmas windows, the unveiling of Claridge's Christmas tree has become one of the key markers of the festive season in London. This year the Mayfair hotel have collaborated with Burberry's Christopher Bailey to create a contemporary style tree made from metallic umbrellas. Drawing inspiration from the brand's history providing protection against the elements, the tree is made from almost 100 umbrellas, finished in bespoke gold and silver metallic fabric. Bailey's creation also boasts an interactive element, with the tree's 77,000 individual lights triggered as guests walk past the tree, sending twinkling beams into the hotel's art deco style lobby. On top of this, Burberry has also designed a Snapchat geo-filter which will enable Snapchat users to frame their pictures with metallic Burberry umbrellas like those found on the tree.
