With 30 years of business under its belt and still going strong, Soho legend Balans Soho Society has just emerged from a revamp with a new lease of life. The new interior designed by Simon Costin – the set designer behind some of Alexander McQueen's most daring fashion shows – offers a new range of details including rich velvet curtains, designer wallpaper and antique mirrors set against colourful artwork. Serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner to hungry Londoners, the new-look restaurant is overseen by Executive Head Chef Crispin Chetwynd who made his name touring the globe cooking for the likes of Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson and Pink Floyd. Chetwynd's seasonal menu offers a whole host of delicious small bites including thrice-fried chicken with shichimi mayonnaise and charred squid and chorizo with fried potatoes and piquillo peppers.
Meanwhile lunch offerings include the Infamous Balans Burger featuring bacon, lashings of cheese and a brioche bun, and 12oz sirloin steak with double-dipped chips and bourbon BBQ sauce. For desserts, guests can tuck into anything from sticky toffee pudding to chocolate tart with Jack Daniel's ice-cream. Supplementing the food menu is a range of delicious cocktails including Elderflower Collins, mixing Broker's gin and St. Germain with apple, and the Society Teddy Bear – a blend of Buffalo Trace, cinnamon and cranberry served in a honey bear bottle.
