Picking up a bouquet of flowers for your loved on one Valentine's is pretty standard practice for lovers across London, but this weekend food creatives Bompas & Parr are teaming up with Champagne brand Perrier-Jouët to offer an exciting twist on the classic gesture. Together the brands have created Perrier-Jouët Fleurs des Rêves – an exotic flower shop in the basement of luxury hotel The London EDITION, offering a selection of 'chameleon' thermochromatic flowers that change colour according to the temperatures they are exposed to. Reflecting the unusual nature of its wares, the installation is far from your average flower shop, inspired by the huge greenhouses of the House of Perrier-Jouët that were constructed in 1852 and became home to some groundbreaking horticultural and botanical innovation. However, the main attraction remains the colour-changing flowers, of which Bompas & Parr have created two varieties – one treated with a liquid crystal dye that changes with the touch of a lover's hand from a deep black to Champagne bottle green. The second has been treated with a thermochromatic dye that transforms colour when spritzed with a perfumed crystal elixir and ignited. Customers can pop in to pick up a bouquet or single stem for a loved one, or stick around to participate in workshops where you can learn to make your own magic flower while supping on Perrier-Jouët Champagne. The event opens today and runs until the 14th of February, so head down to grab yours now.
