A whole host of emerging fashion designers from 24 countries across the globe are gearing up for Fashion Utopias at Somerset House, running from the 19th to the 23rd of February, hosted by the British Fashion Council and British Council. The event will be the fifth edition of the annual International Fashion Showcase, forming part of Somerset House's Utopia 2016: A Year in Imagination and Possibility program, celebrating the 500th anniversary of the publication of Thomas More's groundbreaking text, Utopia. At the center of More's novel was a belief that inspiration and understanding can be drawn from interactions with different places, peoples and cultures, and the IFS event will reflect this –creating an imaginary terrain designed by Hatty Ellis Coward, where designers from around the world can showcase their vision of the future to visitors. Admission is free, but pre-registration is advised as the event is predicted to be popular, so head over to the IFS website to book.
