Damien Hirst's Newport Street Gallery will tomorrow open its doors on a solo exhibition of work by American artist Jeff Koons, the first major UK exhibition devoted to the artist since 2009. Exploring 35 years of the accomplished artist's career, 'Jeff Koons: Now' includes more than 30 paintings, works on paper and sculptures created as recently as 2014. Inflatables run as a theme throughout the collection, from Koons's early 'Inflatable Flowers (Short White, Tall Purple) (1979) to 'Balloon Monkey' (Blue) – a giant rendition of an inflatable animal, reproduced in mirrored stainless steel. A fascination with consumerism and mass culture is also pervasive, present in pieces from 'The New' series (1980-1983) featuring pieces such as 'Hoovers' that includes wall-mounted Hoovers preserved in brightly lit, acrylic boxes. The exhibition will fill all six of Newport Street's large galleries and promises to be one of the cultural highlights of the year, and to celebrate the new opening, the gallery is launching 'Summer Lates' opening hours, remaining open until 10pm every Saturday from the 21st of May.

'Jeff Koons: Now' opens on the 18th of May and will run until the 16th of October 2016. Visit www.newportstreetgallery.com for more information.
