WOW: CITY LIGHTS AND WOODLAND SHADE
To 22 March
The multidisciplinary visual design studio, WOW, is in London for its first UK solo exhibition. Its two installations look at the urban future and timelessness of rural Japan. Tokyo Light Odyssey focuses on the scenes of the city, presenting a mind-bending 360-degree reimagining of Japan’s capital city by night which is projected on to the walls. The work is to mark Tokyo hosting the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. POPPO is an excursion into the folk art of Japan’s countryside, with an emphasis on the wooden dolls and carved hawks that the Tõhoku region of northeastern Japan is known for.
